Cincinnati chili
I don't think I have ever seen a restaurant that specializes in chili before coming to Cincinnati. Not only do they have one, that have chains of them. I think they are on every block. There is even one in the hospital. I didn't see a bowl of chili on the menu. You either get it over a plate of spaghetti noodles, nachos, salad, or hot dogs. I haven't tried it yet. I'll be sure to write about it soon.
Eric began his steroid treatment this morning. (methylprednisolone) His stool output was high enough that the doctors didn't want to wait until tomorrow to start. He was getting pretty puffy from all the extra fluid so they gave him some Lasix to reduce his water retention.
They have been measuring his stools and replacing 1 for 1 what he loses with addition saline IV's. They measure stool by putting in a Foley catheter to capture urine and then weighing the diaper which only has stool output. They found this afternoon that his catheter was clogged so urine had been leaking into his diaper and making seem like he was pooping more than he really was. They put in a new catheter so he should be all set now.
His white cell count is back down to normal. They started to eliminate some of the antibiotics he is on. They stopped one yesterday and one today. He is getting another transfusion of blood today since they have been drawing so much for all his tests.
The steroids will probably take a few weeks to significantly help.
