Food for thought

Eric is getting food again!!! It has been more than two weeks since he has eaten and we are starting pretty slowly. He gets 1ml/hr of formula via NG tube. This equates to one drop every 3 minutes. Even though it isn't much, the doctors think it will accelerate the healing of his intestines.

He also had his foley catheder removed today. This ran into his bladder to drain his urine so they better measure his stool output. It looked uncomfortable.

We are still waiting for some more test results before the immunologist can get the whole picture. All the progress the GI team has made is correcting Eric's symptoms, but we still need to determine the cause.

I started working again today. I have a company laptop and Internet access from our hotel room so I can work almost as effectively as if I was in the office. My boss has been very accommodating and treated me very well throughout all this.

We had to start Wes in daycare so I could work while Nikki spends the day at the hospital. He had good first day. I think he may have been getting bored of hanging out with mom and dad all day.

This is such GREAT news!!! I hope you realize that the picnic this Saturday is not going to be the same. Dallas really loves to play with his cousin, Wes, or as Dallas calls him, he little brother he will never have. I do have a question for you. Is your family still trying to get in to the Ronald McDonand House? If you are and you do get in, let me know so I can send you a boat load of the aluminum pull tabs. The Ronald McDonald House is the only one that I know collects them. If your family is able to come home by 10/24, I want to invite you to my 40th birthday party at the bar. If you're not, I understand but when you do make it back, we will have to do a shot together. Love and miss you guys!! Wes & Eric's GREAT AUNT MARY
