More big news

Eric has gotten much better in the last two days. He is still on the ventilator, but it is providing very little support. They think that he won't need it after tomorrow.

The doctors have decided that none of the different immume suppressive therapies we have been trying the last 5 months are effective enough to allow Eric to thrive. The decision has been made to proceed with a bone marrow transplant. Once Eric is off the ventilator and stable for a while, we will go back to Cincinnati to have that procedure performed. They already have a compatible donation of cord blood on hold that they can use. I expect Eric will be ready for the trip sometime next week.

Tomorrow, to celebrate the first day of spring, I have a job interview and vasectomy scheduled. I'm not sure which I am more nervous about. I have complete confidence that at least one of them will go well, but I'm hoping they both do.

David, Best wishes on both endeavors today. Sounds like quite a day ahead. That must be depressing to find that all little Eric has been through has not been helpful. I hope the transplant will be the answer.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
