I wish there was a good way to measure his progress so I could give
everyone more info, but measuring overall health is tricky. I used to
post Eric's weight, but now the doctors choose what they want Eric to
weigh the next day and then adjust his fluid input every four hours or
so to get him to that goal. His white blood cell count was a good
measure right after transplant and then his chimerism (percentage of
his cells versus donor cells), but those are stable now. He gets
dozens of things measured through blood tests at least twice a day,
but watching those is like watching the stock ticker run across the
bottom of the screen on cnbc. Numbers go up and down and you only know
what half of them mean. So… i guess the best I can do for now is say
Eric is "good". I'll also try to post pictures so you can judge for
yourself.
