Hail to the cheif

Eric had a long weekend. His blood sodium dropped to dangerous levels. They are pumping excessive amounts in his IV lines, but he still has diarrhea so it is not staying in his system. It has been trending back up most the day.

He also has thrush (a fungus in his mouth and throat) which is irratating him quite a bit. He is on both an oral and IV medicine to clear this up. This is not uncommon for someone with an immune deficiency.

His white cell count indicates he may have an infection, but the aren't sure where. He had another spinal tap yesterday and it ruled out menengitis. They also did a chest xray to look for pneumonia and it looked ok. He is at a high risk for both these conditions.

Hopefully we will get some clearer answers within the next few days. The doctor said there is still a good chance we will need to go out of town to a more specialized hospital.
