New central in Eric's new vein

The doctors found that the narrowing of Eric's superior vena cava was actually a clot. They had to leave it as it was. The doctor thought the risks of dislodging it and having it move to his heart was too high.

Interestingly, Eric has somehow adapted to the blockage and grown a new vein that bypasses the blocked area and allows blood to flow to his heart unrestricted. I'm not sure where he picks up these tricks.

So, they ended up routing Eric's new central line to this new vein. They also got some skin and bone marrow biopsies while he was under. He is still on the ventilator, but doing very well and we hope he can get off the vent and back to the BMT wing soon.

I guess it is not that uncommon. Jeff just told me that my father-in-law did the same thing.
